ITT Pilates Continuing Education Programs
Our philosophy is to teach the underlying principles and goals of each exercise with a thorough understanding of anatomy and biomechanics, giving students a solid foundation on which to build.
This program is for people interested in learning an integrative approach to corrective exercise. We teach you the skills and tools to help your clients reach their potential for a healthy body.

ITT Pilates Mat Training Program
The Mat Training Program is designed for those who wish to teach group Mat classes, private Mat sessions and/or home programs for private clients.
The Mat Training is a three month long program that includes Anatomy, the Essentials to all Pilates Exercises, Level 1 and 2 Mat Exercises and a final exam. This in-depth training focuses on teaching you how to embody and apply the ITT Pilates principles of sound biomechanics with insightful cueing and protocols for working with all types of bodies. The goal is to provide you with a program that develops excellent teaching, confidence and the skills needed to become employed as a Mat instructor.
Schedule
For the Mat Certification, students must attend the following workshops:/p>
- Anatomy Lab for Movement Instructors (10 hours)
- Essential Exercises(20 hours)
- Mat Exercises Level 1 and 2 (20 hours)
- A written and practical Final exam (2 hours)
During the training, participants are also required to do 15 hours of personal practice, 15 hours of practice teaching and 10 hours of observation.
Prerequisites: minimum of 15 Mat classes and a letter of recommendation from a certified Pilates instructor.
Materials: required reading in Trail Guide to the Body, by Andrew Biel and Anatomy of Movement, by Blandine Calais-Germain. These books may be purchased from Amazon.com or A Body of Work. There is some reading required prior to the Anatomy Lab for Movement Instructors.
Manuals: $35 each (total of 2 at $70)

Required Reading for ITT Pilates students
ITT Pilates Comprehensive Training
The Comprehensive Training Program includes the Mat Training plus exercises on all pieces of Apparatus. This program is ideal for those who want the freedom to teach on or off the equipment, in all types of settings, and desire a complete education in Pilates movement.
The Comprehensive Training is a seven month long program that includes the Mat certification, the Comprehensive pre-training and 6 weekend intensives. This in-depth training focuses on teaching you how to apply the ITT Pilates principles of sound biomechanics with insightful cueing and the protocols for working with individual needs. The goal is to provide you with the skills and tools to see, sense and create change. Becoming an ITT Pilates Comprehensive instructor gives you ability to help people reach their full movement potential and the confidence to teach a variety of individuals.
Schedule
Courses are scheduled on weekends with some additional Friday evening practice labs. The time between courses will be used for observation, self practice and student teaching. Plan on spending a minimum of 7-10 hours per week, in addition to the weekend intensives, in order to practice the material and complete the required hours prior to the Certification exam.
For the Comprehensive Training Certification, students are required to attend all of the Mat Certification workshops and required hours plus the following workshops:
- Comprehensive Pre-training (4 hours)
- Cadillac Intensive and 2 practice Labs (26 hours)
- Reformer Intensive and 2 practice Labs (26 hours)
- Auxiliary Intensive and 1 practice Lab (15 hours)
- Postural Analysis and Program Design (10 hours)
- Teaching Skills lab (3 hours)
- Apprenticeship hours (10 hours)
- A written and practical Final Exam (3 hours)
During the training, participants are also required to do 75 hours of personal practice, 90 hours of practice teaching, 10 hours of apprentice teaching, and 60 hours of observation.
Prerequisites: minimum of 15 Mat classes and 10 private sessions on the Apparatus. Must provide a letter of recommendation from a certified Pilates instructor.
