The ITT Pilates Comprehensive Instructor Training Program is a total of 452 hours and PMA approved. This program is ideal for those who want the freedom to teach on or off the equipment, in all types of settings, and desire a complete education in Pilates movement. Students begin with the Mat Instructor Training. Once they successfully pass their Mat Certificate exam, they proceed to the Apparatus Training.
The Comprehensive Training is a career-oriented program. This in-depth training focuses on teaching you how to apply the ITT Pilates principles of sound biomechanics with insightful cueing and the protocols for working with individual needs. The goal is to provide you with the skills and tools to see, sense and create change in your clients. Becoming an ITT Pilates Comprehensive instructor gives you ability to help people reach their full movement potential and the confidence to teach a variety of individuals.
Courses are scheduled on weekends with some additional Friday evening labs for teaching practice.
All students are required to complete:
- 80 hours of Self-Practice
- 90 hours of Teaching Practice
- 65 hours of Observation
- 10 hours of Apprentice Teaching
in order to become eligible to test out for the ITT Pilates Comprehensive certificate
Our studio, A Body of Work, is available during the weekends and weekdays, at no additional cost, to help you fulfill your hours of self-practice, teaching practice and observation.
Plan on spending a minimum of 7-10 hours per week, in addition to the weekend intensives, in order to practice the material and complete the required hours for the final exam.
For the Comprehensive Teacher Training, students must complete all of the Mat Instructor Training requirements and attend the following workshops:
- Comprehensive Pre-Training (8 hours)
- Cadillac Levels 1 and 2 with Teaching Labs (26 hours)
- Reformer Levels 1 and 2 with Teaching Labs (34 hours)
- Wunda Chair (10 hours)
- Ladder Barrel and Spine Corrector (10 hours)
- Assessment and Program Design (10 hours)
- Apprentice Teaching (10 hours)
- A written and practical Final Exam (3 hours)
Prerequisites: minimum of 15 Mat classes and 10 private sessions with experience on all pieces of Apparatus. Students must also provide a letter of recommendation from a certified Pilates instructor.
*Prerequiste special package for enrolled ITT Pilates students: 10 privates for $600 or single sessions for $70. Call the studio to sign up.
