Annie Leonard
Annie is a native San Franciscan and discovered GYROTONIC® through her years as a ballet dancer. As a student she studied with Henry Berg who followed his dancing career with the Joffrey Ballet to teach rehabilitation with San Francisco Ballet. His technique with Floor Barre encouraged Annie to study first Pilates and then GYROTONIC® while she was still dancing. She taught ballet classes to young dancers at The Ballet Studio and felt that there should be a broader approach to bodywork than working only through dance. Her interest in body movement and structure led her to study massage with the National Holistic Institute where she earned her certification as a massage therapist. To acquire more training with GYROTONIC® she began working with Nicole at Body of Work and then studied with master trainers Kathy Van Patten and Debra Rose. Once she completed her certification she began teaching individual students at other studios in San Francisco and she is excited to be teaching at the Body of Work.
